Plastic Menance vs Jute Comfort

The other day when i went to by groceries for my house, i was looking forward to the experiance of "Shopping". Eventhough, it was not the kind of "Shopping Spree" that we "younsters" are quite known for ... it was a "Shopping Spree" to make sure so that my Stomach is getting proper care, love and affection from me !

So, the things i went out to purchase were Milk, Kisan Mixed Fruit Jam, Coke 1.5ltr Bottle, Potato Chips, Bananas, Mangoes and Bread.

I also had to buy some Basmati Rice, Indian Pulses, Salt, and some vegetables. Well, that was for making some "Shehenshayi Biryani" ... MY recipe !

I completed my shopping and as i started to "Strike off" each and every item in my "list" ... to see if everything i intended to purchase was there or not ... i was quite happy to learn that i have got each and every item in my list.

As i returned to my house, the "typical indian road" was full of some "cows" that were searching for food in the "kachara kundi" near the road. That sight was both Amusing and Sad. Amusing as Cows are really wonderful annimals. Sad because they have to search for food in some Kachara Kundi.

I reached my home ... when i started to "unpack" the items of my purchases ... suddenly i found 10 polethene bags with those purchases. I was thinking as to whether i should throw those polethene bags in the dustbin or should i store them ... so that they might come handy when needed urgently.

Just when i started to throw them in dustbin, the plight of those cows searching food in the Kachara Kundi came instantly to my mind. We had some media reports of some Cows dying by eating Plastic Bags. That was sad indeed.

If i throw those plastic bags in the dustbin now ... then chances are that they might eventually find their place in the stomachs of few Cows. That is not desirable.

So, what do i do ? ... So, what is the solution ?

Jute is the best bet as against Plastic Bags.

Plastic Bags dont decompose. So, they are the spoiler of nature.

But, Jute is a natural fibre, and it decomposes easily. So, the risk to the nature and its flora and fauna because of them is virtually NIL.

So, next time when i go shopping ... i take one of those wonderfully made "Jute Shopper" ... made by those "Small Scale Industries" ... and drop all my purchases into it ... saying NO to all those plastic bags that shopkeepers give ...

I am happy that atleast i am not directly responsible for harming the nature ... right ?

But, what about those "milk packets" and "Coke Pet Bottles " ... i wouldnt want to throw them away either ... but i would sell them to the "plastic purchaser" near my house ... who will make sure that they are being properly "recycled" ...

It takes one small step to start a revolution ... Small drops of water make an ocean ... then why not i make sure that the things we are doing ... will atleast "not spoil" the wonderful nature i am living in ...
